PodCruncher Podcast Player App Reviews

Nice features, but deal-breaking bugs.

Search function has been broken for months, if not years, and I dont have a lot of hope that its getting fixed.

Love this app

I love this app! I can get any podcast without having to know what podcast company theyre with! And it works 99% of the time!

You wont use anything else to listen to podcasts

Still the best full-featured podcast player in whole AppStore, period! Smooth and reliable, it doesnt get stuck or crashes, easy and intuitive lists, playback online or fast download, and its so feature rich. Custom playlists work like media channels that I can customize based on my preferences of what and how to listen.

amazingly powerful while still intuitive

the Smart Playlist feature is really impressive, and the many customization settings, and perfect multi-select / batch-actions, and the customizable 30s rewind / fast firward buttons on the lock screen... really well done, nothing left to wish for.

A podcast app that works

Finally a reliable replacement for the IOS app. Highly recommend.

Duped by the reviews

Ive been using the native podcast app for a while now but was looking for something that had a little bit more control. Given the number of five star reviews and that this was one of the paid apps compared to several other highly rated free apps, I decided to give this a go. 1. I transferred over from Podcasts but it only transferred seven of my 15+ subscriptions. It also did not retain any information on what I already listen to or deleted so I essentially had to start from scratch. 2. I really dont like the UE when I swipe to delete an episode. The top menu bar disappears so the line that youre deleting skips. I had to do a lot of cleanup because further to point number one, it didnt transfer over for me what I had or had not already listened to. 3. Finally I dont like that it doesnt give you a quick preview up with the podcast is about. It takes several clicks in to get to the podcast description.

Needs folders NOW

When you reach 50+ podcasts the main view gets cluttered and difficult to sort. Really needs folders to make sorting easier. Older--- Ive tried most other podcasting apps but they all fall short when compared to this one. Would love to see the ability to add folders and move selected podcasts to them. This will be a great aid with keeping podcasts sorted.

Great app

Better then Apples podcast app . I went back to the Apple app after using PodCruncher for a couple years . I was thinking it might be better but I regretted it immediately . Now Im back and I finally feel confident in giving it 5 stars . I went back was because I thought the Apple app would be more consistent and reliable at updating podcasts but it turned out to be worse . I realized that it was never a PodCruncher issue in the first place. The biggest plus of the PodCruncher app is the ability to skip backwards and forwards very easily and intuitively. You can choose the amount of time you want to skip each time you press the arrow . With apples app you cant skip backwards to the podcast you were listening to before the current one if you happen to walk away while your playing a playlist and return wanting to "rewind" to hear what you missed , if one podcast ended you would have to jump through hoops to get back to the podcast that ended and find your spot , but with this app you simply press the arrow . Also with Apples app it only allows a measly 15 seconds skip button which is practically worthless in my opinion . Bottom line, this app is the best thing going for binge podcast consumers like myself ! I sometimes think that makers off apps use fake names or friends accounts to write good reviews so I just want to assure anyone reading this that I have no affiliation with this app except that I use it and love it . I believe in rewarding quality .

works good but crashes once s month

just wish it would automatically delete played podcasts. Also wish podcast did not have to play 100% to show played. Also crashes about once a month which means you have to reinstall and re subscribe to podcasts. So I have moved on to iTunes

By Far The Best Podcast App

Ive tried a few podcast apps but none of them worked the way I wanted. This one did. My issue was having trouble with the ease of marking multiple episodes of shows as something Ive already played. All other apps were buggy and just reset my lists constantly. PodCruncher did not. I was able to easily mark previous episodes and its kept them in check for the 5+ months Ive been using it. The only issue I have is sometimes the app does crash and/or doesnt play the episode Ive been listening to. But a quick app restart fixed it. Hopefully theyll fix that with an update soon.

Great app, search screen bug

The search bar is superimposed over the search options. You can still search by title and enter search terms but cant change search parameters. Hope its an easy fix, Im checking out other apps to see if there is anything better. Otherwise this app is great. Would be neat to be able to split up subscribed list into categories.

Am addicted to podcasts thx to this app

It always works, lets me adjust speed and play order, make playlists, etc. If you download the podcasts that can eat a lot of storage, so just be wary and delete them as soon as youve listened to them. Otherwise love this app, which I use every single day.

Loading Error

All I wanted to do was to download some podcasts to play for later and it just wasnt that easy. I kept getting Loading Error and I couldnt find a reason why or a way to reset them without deleting the subscription. Then there was no progress indicator for the downloads. Finally I just deleted the app.

Mostly Excellent

Outstanding podcast app, I switched to PodCruncher several months ago from Apples iOS Podcast app. My only complaint is in the sharing functionality.

Awesome App!

Ive been using this app to listen to my podcasts for over a year and nothing else comes even close this.

Improves Apple podcast app without requiring subscription

Basically a skinned version of the stock Apple podcast app. It allows you to change speed of playback, create and manage multiple playlists, and it improves your ability to organize episodes (such as greying them out when they have been played). Button mapping is better -- I found with the Apple podcast app I was constantly starting playback when tapping the upper left icon, when only intending to bring up the menu. So frustrating. This app makes improvement to the biggest issues I had with the stock Apple app. Worth 1.99 to me.

Great app that could use one little improvement

I like the customizable fast forward and rewind buttons. I like nearly everything about it. It is difficult to navigate to individual podcast descriptions/notes. And I wish to be able to rearrange my podcast list instead of each being in the order subscribed. It means that some of my favorite podcasts are always at the bottom and any podcast later subscribed to just gets piled on top. Also, theres a glitch in the search bar. An iPhone 5s, anything type into the search bar overlaps other writing on that page.

Thanks for saving me

from iPhones default podcast app. If Podcruncher was vigorously user-tested, it shows.

The best?

Beautiful (simple) interface, intuitive, feature rich. Stream or download. Shows when each podcast was last updated. Customizable. Thank you for list view. Downloaded OPMP file and and good to go.

Absolutely the best. (hint: manual episodes sorting).

I tried LOTS of other apps before giving a blind-try to PodCruncher because of the other reviews. - Glad I did! Two winning features in my opinion: the manual sorting, and the smart playlists. Worth every penny.
